They Did It

They did it, the Gunners that is. Broke the almost 3-decade old 42 matches unbeaten run record with their 3- 0 victory over Blackburn Rovers last night. Which I never doubted they would achieved.

The game itself? It was not totally vintage Arsenal yesterday. The Professor, himself, said, 'Going forward, we weren't perfect ………..' Blackburn boss Graeme Souness summed it up this way -

'I felt we matched Arsenal in the first-half in every department and in terms of chances.

'But from the moment they scored five minutes after the break, they were streets ahead.

'They found another gear and we seemed to lose a gear. There was only one outcome then.'

For the record, Titi (Henry) scored one goal and set up two. The Spaniards, Cesc and Reyes netted the other two. Incidentally, with this goal against the Rovers, King Henry brought his tally of goals to 34 out of the 94 scored by the team in their unbeaten run.

It is increasingly looking like a UN team, this Arsenal FC. In service last night (those on the bench inclusive) were 4 Frenchmen, 3 Spaniards, 3 Englishmen, a Brazilian, a Dutchman, a German, a Swede and 2 from the African Continent (Cameroon and the Ivory Coast). How do the French communicate with the Spaniards and the Spaniards with the Englishmen and the Englishmen with the Brazilians and the Brazilians with…. oh well, its too mind-boggling for me.

It must be that language of football they "speak" so well that helps - pace, flair, visionary passes, mental strength and most important of all, team spirit.

So where do Arsenal go from here?

Others can only guess but we Gunners' fans can only think of the sky.
